Welcome to Holyhead Tutoring! My name is Ivan, and I’m a specialist maths teacher with more than two decades of experience in the field. I work at an 11-18 school with one of the largest 6th forms in the area, successfully supporting thousands of students through their exams. Many of my students have gained places at some of the top universities in the country (including Oxbridge), to study maths and mathematically related courses.

Even after twenty years in the classroom, I have a real passion for maths and I’m still as enthusiastic and devoted as when I started. My interest is really infectious and I love to help those who struggle with the subject, as much as those who already love it.

My online tutoring is offered at a range of levels and times, including before school, morning sessions (which are offered at a reduced rate), evenings, weekends, and holiday tuition. I also offer group sessions so if you have friends of similar ability looking for tuition this can be the perfect solution.

A little more about me….

Prior to teaching I spent 9 years in the army (Coldstream Guards, living next door to Buckingham Palace!) as a musician and that time very much helped form the person I am today.

On top of that, I love to keep fit and am an avid gym user. When not at the gym, you can often find me walking my dog, Minty, on the South Downs (Minty can also be found attending most of my tutoring lessons, though she is a lot less enthused about maths than I am!). I also love to cook, trying out new recipes on my wife and daughter (when she’s home from uni).
